Gmail gets over 1,000 new smileys

If you are among the internet users who love emoticons, you will love the latest addition in Gmail. Internet search giant Google has beefed up the number of smileys in its free email service by over a thousand emoticons.

Earlier, Gmail users could choose from an assortment of 158 emoticons, but now they have as many as 1,287 smileys at their disposal, says a report in The Next Web. The company is rolling out the new emoticons to users in a phased manner.
To access the new emoticons, a user simply needs to roll over the + icon on the bottom pane while composing a new email. This will show up options like Google Drive, calendar, emoticons etc. He or she just needs to click on the smiley face to check out the over a thousand emoticons and give expressions to their messages.

The hundreds of static as well as dynamic emoticons added range from a karaoke mic and beating heart to glittering stars and flags of various nations. So, users can now further jazz up their emails rather than going for just the traditionally available icons.
