Software company VirnetX sues Microsoft over Skype

Internet security software company VirnetX has filed a lawsuit against Microsoft, saying the software giant's Skype service violates six of its patents.

VirnetX said Microsoft infringed on patents outside the limited license deal that the software giant reached with VirnetX after purchasing Skype.

According to research firm ISI Group, most of VirnetX's revenue has come from a 200 million dollars patent-infrigement-related settlement reached with Microsoft in 2010, Fox News reports.
VirnetX filed the lawsuit in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Texas on Monday.

According to the report, VirnetX is seeking damages and injunctive relief.
