Indian archers at London 2012


Deepika Kumari, Bombayla Devi, Chekrovolu Swuro, Rahul Banerjee, Tarundeep Rai and Jayanta Talukdar are India's representatives in the sport at London.


Archery At Lords - Great Britain v China v India

Laishram Bombayla Devi represented India at the 2008 Beijing Olympics in the women's individual as well as team events, but failed to reach the finals in both events. Bombayla won the gold medal at the recurve team event in the 2010 Commonwealth Games in New Delhi. The Indian women's recurve archery team of L Bombayla Devi, Deepika Kumari and Chekrovolu Swuro earned three quota places for the London Games when they won a silver medal at the 46th World Archery Championship in Turin, Italy in July 2011.
19th Commonwealth Games - Day 7: Archery

Deepika Kumari is a huge prospect for India in the upcoming London Olympics 2012. Deepika won the gold medal in the 2010 Commonwealth games in the women's individual recurve event. She also won gold medal in the same competition in the women's team recurve event along with Dola Banerjee and Bombayala Devi. In May 2012, Deepika won her first World Cup individual recurve gold medal at Antalya, Turkey. She beat Korea's Lee Sung Jin by six set points to four in the final. She is currently world no.1 in the Women's Recurve Archery.

19th Commonwealth Games - Day 7: Archery

Jayanta Talukdar: The 26-year-old was part of the Indian team that won the silver medal at the 2004 Junior World Championships. He followed up with a gold medal at the FITA Meteksan World Cup in 2006, becoming the first Indian archer to win gold at the event. In 2006, he also won a gold medal at the South Asian Games and a bronze medal in the team competition at the 2006 Asian Games. On 21 June 2012, Jayanta Talukdar made it to the Indian men's recurve archers team for London Olympics 2012.

2012 Archery World Cup

Tarundeep Rai became the first Indian to win an individual men's silver medal in archery at the Asian Games on 24 November 2010 in Guangzhou, China. He was also a member of the Indian archery team that won the bronze medal at the 15th Asian Games in Doha in 2006. Tarundeep made it to the Indian men's recurve team for the 2012 London Olympics on 21 June 2012.

2012 Archery World Cup

Rahul Banerjee's sister Dola Banerjee is also an ace archer. His first international appearance was in the Youth World Championship in 2004, where he won silver in Team Events. This was the first ever world level medal for Indian Archery. Rahul won several Gold medals at the World Cup Archery in 2008, 2009 and 2010; he also won Individual Gold Medal in Asian Grand Prix in 2009 and 2010. In the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi, he won Gold Medal in Men's Individual recurve event and Bronze in Team event. Rahul also won the Bronze in 16th Asian Games Guangzhou 2010 in Team Event.

Chekrovolu Swuro: The Indian women's recurve archery team of L Bombayla Devi, Deepika Kumari and Chekrovolu Swuro earned three quota places for the London Games when they won a silver medal at the 46th World Archery Championship in Turin, Italy in July 2011.
