Flipkart is getting into making its own payment gateway services it seems according to a report in Trak.in. Another important piece of information that the article provides is that Flipkart may be getting into the marketplace thing soon, possibly to compete with Junglee and eBay.
A forum discussion in Pluggd.in shows that two companies called “FLIPKART MARKETPLACE PRIVATE LIMITED” and “FLIPKART PAYMENT GATEWAY SERVICES PRIVATE LIMITED” have been approved by the MCA in the last 15 days. Something surely is brewing up at Flipkart!
Flipkart is no doubt one of the biggest firms in e-commerce right now in the country and these new steps by the company would further cement their lead. Having its own payment gateway services is brilliant given that this will give one more option for users and startups to choose from in terms of services. Personally, I would go with Flipkart payments since they have totally earned my trust in whatever they have done. The company is impeccable at its customer service and manages to delight everyone. With this attitude, it is clear that it takes its customers very seriously as opposed to most other businesses in the country.
The Marketplace idea is not new as a couple of e-commerce firm have done that starting with ebay and Amazon’s Junglee. We have also written about how Tradus has also introduced storefronts. Storefronts or Marketplaces is a logical evolution for the ecommerce business in my opinion.
We are waiting for Flipkart’s announcement regarding their new services and it might happen soon.
