The company also announced the availability and free trial offer of new services for Airtel 4G customers - Airtel Broadband TV and Games On-Demand.
Bharti Airtel is offering the service at Rs 999 to Rs 2,999, depending on data consumption. Customers can check the availability of Airtel 4G services in their area online over a map-based interface and purchase the services online. The service will also be available on monthly EMIs and cash on delivery, along with other payment options.
K Srinivas, president - consumer business, Bharti Airtel, said, "Today, we are excited to launch Maharashtra's first 4G experience for Airtel customers in Pune. We are optimistic about the traction that 4G will see in months to come and look forward to rolling out our services in other circles soon".
Bharti Airtel also has plans of rolling out India's first multi-mode LTE TDD smartphone in India alongwith partners Qualcomm and Huawei - thus making voice telephony a reality for 4G users in India in the near future.
