"Infosys is the only Indian firm to be included in the list of 100 key liaison service outsourcing firms by the China's ministry of commerce," the global software major said in a statement here.
With China identifying service outsourcing as a key industry, its commerce ministry extends support to foster talent development, design business-friendly tax structures and encourage service providers to set shop across the mainland.
As its wholly-owned subsidiary, Infosys China has development centres in Shanghai, Beijing, Dalian, Hangzhou and Jiaxing with 3,300 employees to offer a range of software services to Chinese enterprises and multi-nationals operating in China.
"China's service outsourcing industry has been growing at a rapid pace over the last couple of years. The number of outsourcing firms increased to 16,939 in 2011 from 12,706 in 2010 and the offshore service value shot up to $23.8 billion in 2011, registering 65 per cent growth from 2010," the statement noted.
The software services firm also has delivery centres across China to support the needs of clients globally as well.
"A new development centre with a capacity to seat about 10,000 employees is coming up at Minhang in Shanghai to help us strengthen delivery capabilities and demonstrate our strong commitment to the fast growing Chinese market," the company said.
