The report also said that the South Korean manufacturer Samsung will unveil its Galaxy S IV, the upcoming flagship, at Mobile World Congress in January 2013. It is speculated that this phone will have a 4.99-inch screen that will be unbreakable and bendable.
Galaxy Note II was unveiled in August this year and went on sale the following month, clocking sales of over 5 million by October. Its successor is likely to be launched in the second half of 2013 only.
If Galaxy Note III indeed has a 6.3-inch touchscreen, it will extend the size of 'phablets' even more and further blur the lines that divide tablets and smartphones. At present, no phone comes with a screen bigger than 5.5-inch (Galaxy Note II), though various tablets with 7-inch screens do support voice calls over GSM networks. A Huawei executive previously confirmed that the Chinese manufacturer is working on a smartphone with a 6.1-inch screen. Sony is also rumoured to be working an Android phone with a 6-inch display, named Yuga.
