Modis, an information technology staffing company, has identified some of the top cities for IT jobs for this year. The company compiled this list of 10 cities based on job availability and trends seen through the Modis branch network across the United States.
The company said that opportunities in IT sectorwere available in traditional tech hubs like San Francisco and New York offering growth, but a surprising trend emerged as a number of Midwestern cities, including Minneapolis, St Louis and Omaha, also showed an increase in jobs. This shift is likely due to organisations moving operations to cities with lower-than-average cost of living and an educated workforce, it said.
Modis' report said some of the most in-demand positions include project managers, software developers and business analysts. Additionally, professionals with three to seven years of experience are also highly sought after for middle and upper management positions. Job seekers looking for IT positions in the financial services industry will see increased demand in St Louis, Minneapolis, Boston and New York. On the other hand, Omaha and Raleigh feature opportunities within the biotech, healthcare and pharmaceutical industries.
