Seven innovators from Bangalore figure in MIT Technology Review's latest list of young innovators (under 35 years of age) in India.
Among them are Phanindra Sama, 32, founder of bus booking system RedBus, and Valerie Rozycki Wagoner, 29, co-founder of Zipdial, the marketing and analytics platform for mobile based on missed calls.
The others are: Nilesh Brijwani, 29, of Mitra Biotech who has discovered a novel mutation that might be used as a biomarker for patient response against existing and developmental anticancer drugs; Parul Gupta, 33, of IBM who has designed a disruptive cellular architecture called the wireless network cloud;
Kishore Krishna Kumar, 33, of BitTec who has developed a hand-held micro-PCR device and an associated micro-fluidic chip;
Mainak Chakraborty, 28, of Green Power Systems who has built one of the most compact of its kind waste-to-energy systems; and
Harpreet Sareen, 22, of Stac Trace Solutions who has developed Web@assist, a universal solution for the disabled to access the Web anywhere.
This is the fourth successive year in which MIT Technology Review has come out with what it calls the TR35 list for India. This year's list has 20 names. Indians have regularly featured even in the publication's global TR35 list. For this year's India list, an 18-person jury of eminent researchers, technologists from diverse areas assessed the work of 200 nominees.
