Google planning to kill passwords

Since passwords have become an increasing problem for many, Google could be set to replace them entirely and is experimenting with USB keys, mobile phones and even jewellery that can act as a physical "key" to give users access to their account.

The search giant's security bosses are set to publish their findings next month and say they could soon be commonplace.

The Yubikey, which is believed to have been tested by Google, can automatically log users onto all their accounts without ever asking for a password by placing it into a Google laptop.

Review, Facebook Graph Search

Facebook has unveiled a new search tool that gives users a chance to sift through the photos, places and other information available on the site - all through the lens of their social connections.

Would you like to know which of your friends live in San Francisco? Are you curious about who likes Madonna? Or are you dying to know which friends appeared in photos with you before 2006? Facebook's new search tool will tell you, in the hopes that you'll spend more time on the world's largest online social network.

The search feature, called "Graph Search," is being rolled out slowly. For now, users can only search in English, and the service will be available only to a tiny fraction of Facebook's more than 1 billion users. As part of a group of reporters who attended Facebook's unveiling of the service on Tuesday, I was one of these users.

Ericsson, Nokia Siemens Networks, Alcatel-Lucent, Huawei and ZTE are missing from the telecom department (DoT) certified list of vendors eligible to supply Gigabit Passive Optical Network, or GPON, which is the chosen fibre technology for this project.

Both the phones are targeted at the budget segment that is ruled by the likes of Micromax, Lava and Karbonn. While Videocon A30 features a dual-core processor and is priced at Rs 7,299, its smaller sibling - A20 - costs Rs 4,999.

But do these two devices have what it takes to topple the current segment leaders and capture significant market share? Let's find out.
