Not so long ago, most laptops used to be the hideous black plastic boxes. And then Apple'sMacBook Pro - and in 2008 - MacBook Airhappened. This put a squeeze on the laptop makers like Dell and HP. For some time, these companies resisted. But then had to give up as consumers demanded better-looking laptops. 

Nowadays, the high-end laptop market is full of some pretty machines. Dell XPS 14, which belongs to Dell's ultrabook range, is one such laptop. But we have seen that getting aesthetics as well functionality right has proved a bit difficult for most laptop makers.
Even though machines look good, they lack refinements in areas like screen, keyboard and touchpad. Dell claims XPS 14 is a beauty with brawn. It doesn't compromise. Let's find if this is the high-end laptop you should buy... 

Nokia Lumia 900 available at Rs 32,999

Nokia Lumia 900, the erstwhile flagship phone of the Finnish company, has been launched in India without any fanfare. The device is already available at e-commerce sites like Indiatimes Shopping and others at a price of Rs 32,999 in cyan white and black colours.

Lumia 900 features a 4.3-inch Amoled touchscreen with ClearBlack Display and runs on Windows Phone 7.5 ( Mango) operating system. This phone is available with internal memory of 16GB coupled with 512MB RAM and is powered by a 1.4GHz Scorpion processor. It sports an 8MP snapper with Carl Zeiss optics and dual LED flash on the back and a 1MP camera in the front.

Government plans cyber surveillance agency to monitor the web

Faced with recent episodes of misuse ofinternet in creating unrest, the Centre is planning to set up a dedicated 'cyber surveillance agency' to monitor the web and social media networks for malicious content, having implications on law and order, and forewarn security agencies and state police for taking preventive steps. 

The idea is to keep a watch on web content which are in the 'public' domain and which may have potential to create law and order problems like what the country witnessed in the wake of the recent Assam violence. 

Government evolves 3 pronged strategy to tackle misuse of internet, social media

 Taking serious note of recent misuse ofinternet and social media, Government has formulated a three-pronged strategy including setting up of a cyber surveillance agency which can forewarn about any such malicious intent. 

At a recent meeting chaired by National Security Advisor Shivshanker Menon, it was also decided to frame guidelines for telecom operators to prevent panic reaction as seen in recent weeks when Internet andsocial media was used to spread rumours, particularly on clashes in Assam, according to the minutes of the meeting. 

Zynga hits EA in court over employee hiring deal

Zynga Inc (ZNGA.O) fired back against rival gaming company Electronic Arts Inc (EA.O), saying an EA lawsuit breached a deal between the two that restricted how Zynga can try to hire the other company's employees.

Zynga's allegations on Friday came as a counterclaim to a lawsuit filed by EA last month in a San Francisco federal court. EA had accused Zynga of copying key elements of its popular "The Sims Social" game for Zynga's own title, "The Ville".

In its lawsuit last month, EA accused Zynga of obtaining "private" information about the Sims game after hiring three of EA's top employees shortly before its launch. Zynga is the dominant publisher of games on Facebook (FB.O).
