Intex Technologies eyes Rs 1,000 crore turnover in FY13

Betting big on the growing tablet market, IT hardware and electronics products company Intex Technologies has set a target of generating Rs 1,000 crore turnover in 2012-13.
Last year, the company's turnover was Rs 779 crore. It had set an "ambitious target of becoming a Rs 1,000 crore company in FY 2012-13," Intex General Manager (Mobile Business) Sanjay Kumar.
The firm aims to sell 60,000 tablets this year, he said while announcing the regional launch of the Intex i-Buddy tablet running on Android operating system.

"We want to sell 3.6 lakh handsets and 60,000 tablets this year. We will be launching our 3G tablet in August," he told a press conference here.
The company is aiming for revenues of Rs 400 crore from the mobile business in FY 2012-13 and expects 15 per cent of revenue to come from south Indian markets.
"South India is one of the largest markets for technology products with 26 per cent of India's mobiles being sold here. It is definitely a potential market for Intex as well," he added.
On today's launch, Kumar said i-Buddy comes with a 1GHZ processor, a front camera and wi-fi among others and is priced at Rs 6,490. It also has a seven inch touch screen.
