I want to buy a second TV for our house. I don't need a big screen; a good, cheap option for around Rs 15,000 would be perfect. I want to play regular cable TV and movies off a pen drive. What would you suggest?

Keep in mind that LCD or LED doesn't matter in this range. The LED TVs you get will be edge-lit LED and not full-array LED; in non-jargon terms, these don't give significantly better pictures than a normal LCD TV. So with that, here are some options...
22-inch: Our money would go to the LG 22LS3700, perhaps the best low-budget TV around. It features an IPS panel -— a must, if you ask us -— and is HD-ready. It plays many formats off a USB, although MKV files may not work. And perhaps most importantly, it has a good, rich sound -- crucial in a compact, budget TV, since you don't want to spend on extra speakers. The MRP is Rs 16,500, but we found retail and online stores selling it for around 15,000.
24-inch: Your options are split here. The Panasonic TH-L 24X5D gives you a FullHD screen, although not an IPS panel. So if you are particular about watching FullHD movies, this is the one to get, available for around Rs 17,000. But also consider the Philips24PFL5637. It has really good sound for a budget TV, and plays every format you throw at it. But again, you don't get an IPS panel. Also, this model is a little hard to locate, but if you do find it, we think it's a great deal for its price of Rs 18,000.
