Kerala leads in growth rate in investment projects, Assocham

Thiruvananthapuram, June 20 (IANS) Kerala is the only state in the country which saw a surge in growth of investment projects during the implementation stage in the last quarter of 2011-12 fiscal as compared to the previous three quarters, a study has shown.

"With 27.8 percent year on year rate of growth in investment projects in the implementation stages, Kerala has emerged as the single state across India with a sterling performance," said the study conducted by the industry lobby Assocham.

Kodak sues Apple, claiming interference in patent sales

Photography pioneer Eastman Kodak Co sued Apple Inc to stop it from interfering with plans to sell a large patent portfolio, a significant part of its bankruptcy restructuring.

In a lawsuit filed on Monday in U.S. bankruptcy court in Manhattan, Kodak said Apple, the largest U.S. company by market value, wrongly claims to own 10 patents arising from work that the companies did together in the early 1990s.

Privately held FlashPoint Technology Inc also claims ownership through an assignment from Apple, which spun it off in 1996, and is also a defendant, Kodak said.

Russian Government Building Its Own Facebook

While China employs thousands of censors to keep a close eye on social media such as Sina Weibo, the Russian government is trying a different approach: Creating its own social network for Russians to share content and speak online.

Russia is attempting to create its own Facebook-style network built upon a website for complaining about civil servants launched earlier this year, according to The Guardian.
