Highest successful chases in Test cricket

West Indies were hobbling at 165 for 4 and were then reduced to 288 for 6; and when Chanderpaul was dismissed the hosts were 372 for 7, but Omari Banks (47*) and Drakes (27*)'s unbroken 46-run partnership for the eighth wicket sealed a historic victory and deny Australia a clean sweep of the four-Test series.

West Indies 359 (Viv Richards 177, Clive Lloyd 68, BS Chandrasekhar 6-120, BS Bedi 4-73) and 271-6 declared (Alvin Kallicharan 103*, Clive Lloyd 36, S Venkataraghavan 3-65, BS Chandrasekhar 2-88) LOST TO India 228 (Madan Lal 42, GR Viswanath 41, Michael Holding 6-65, Imtiaz Ali 2-37) and 406-4 (GR Viswanath 112*, Sunil Gavaskar 102, Mohinder Amarnath 85, RR Jumadeen 2-70). India chase down a target in excess of 400 to win the Test, a feat accomplished only once before - by Australia against England in 1948.
