Wipro appoints ex HP VP Vyomesh Joshi to board

Wipro reportedly appointed Vyomesh Joshi, the former executive vice president of Hewlett-Packard's Imaging and Printing Group, to its board on Monday. This move is part of India's third largest software services company's efforts to revamp the board, according to a report published in a business daily.

Previously, Joshi worked at HP for 32 years and was the head of the printer division since 2002. Popularly known as VJ, he quit the company in March 2012.
Joshi will serve the board of Wipro as an independent director and will join other independent directors like N Vaghul, BC Prabhakar, Jagdish N Sheth and Ashok S Ganguly, who have been on the board for over a decade.

Joshi earned his masters' degree in Electrical Engineering from Ohio State University, US. He went to work for Hewlett Packard in 1980 as a research and development engineer. Previously, he served as a director at Yahoo (July 2005 to May 2012) and presently has a seat on the Dean's Advisory Council at Rady School of Management at the University of California, San Diego.
