Aakash 2 production being raised due to growing demand

Datawind, maker of the world's cheapest tablet Aakash, will ramp up production and tie-up with a new assembly facility in order to clear the backlog of more than 40 lakh bookings.

The Canada-based company's CEO Suneet Singh Tuli told ET that increasing production was necessary to meet the massive demand created by the tablet that sells commercially under the Ubislate brand and is available for 4,500 in the market.
Datawind has its own assembly unit in Amritsar and has tie-ups with three suppliers in Delhi, Bangalore and Hyderabad with a combined capacity of 2,500-3,000 tablets a day.
