5 Proven Tips For Fighting Acne By Expert

Acne is a skin problem that many suffer from and it could happen to you even due to your lifestyle choices unless hereditary. There are many products out there in the market but isn't it better that we take all precautions and undo certain lifestyle habits instead?

Here are few proven tips that will help you fight acne by Geetika Chakravarti who is a beauty and makeup content creator on Trell and a makeup artist by profession.

DIY

Try the mixture of turmeric and honey. All you need is 1 Tsp turmeric and 2 Tsps of honey. Mix well, apply for 30 minutes and wash it off. Turmeric has curcumin which reduces inflammation, redness and promotes skin healing. Both honey and turmeric have anti-bacterial properties which make them hero ingredients for acne-prone skin.

Homemade face packs are made using ingredients in your kitchen and they are all natural as well. You waste less money on shopping online for these products and making it yourself is a great way to pamper yourself and destress as well.

Following The Right Skincare Routine

Skincare involves a lot of trial and error. Your skin may react well to some products, while with others- not so much. It’s also important to be consistent. Follow a CTM(Cleanse, Tone, Moisturize) routine. Incorporate a BHA exfoliant 3-4 times a week which helps with clogged pores and pesky comedones. Another product is tretinoin- a derivative of vitamin A. It increases skin cell turnover and regulates sebum production. Another plus is that it increases collagen production so it targets fine lines and wrinkles.

Exercise

Did you know that there’s a correlation between stress and acne? Telling someone to “cheer up” or saying “hey don’t be stressed!” isn’t the best solution. But what if you could alleviate your stressors by simply incorporating exercise/yoga into your daily routine – even if it's just 20-30 minutes. Exercises can uplift your mood, improves sleep and flushes out toxins from your system by increasing blood circulation. It also decreases cortisol aka the “stress hormone” so, in turn, it can reduce stress-related acne.

Diet

Most of us love junk food or have certain cravings including sugary indulgences but if you give into them, your skin suffers a lot. That’s because research has indicated that acne flares up with food that contains a high glycemic index. So try to incorporate healthier options and go easy on their intake. Also, do drink a lot of water.

Makeup

Since I’m a makeup artist by profession, I’ve learned how to conceal acne/scarring. While I’m happy being bare-faced, sometimes I also want to wear makeup. You can invest in a non-comedogenic foundation that won’t clog your pores. You can also use a high coverage concealer to spot conceal. Just make sure it matches your skin tone and it’s blended well. Set with a powder and you’re good to go.
