Just Got Your Hair Coloured? Here Is How To Prevent Them From Fading

The first thing that makes you worry as soon as you get your hair coloured is the fading. After investing so much into a hair colour treatment, all we wish for is that the lovely colour stays for a long period of time.

Or else it would make no sense to spend so much time and money to colour your hair. Right? After you step out of the salon, it is all your responsibility. It is how you take care of your colour treated hair.

For how long will your hair colour last depends on what hair colour you use. Usually, it is said that a regular hair colour stays for around 4-6 weeks but there is no guarantee of the same. Permanent hair colours last for longer, almost 6 months or more.

How can you prevent your hair colour from fading and make it last for long? Read on to know.

Choose A Colour Friendly Shampoo

After you get your hair coloured, you can't use your regular shampoo or you can end up washing away all the colour. After hair colour, you need to use a shampoo that is sulphate free as it won't strip off colour from your hair. Go for a colour-safe and sulpate free shampoo.

Don't Shampoo Your Hair Too Often

This is one of the easiest tricks to keep your hair colour last for a longer period of time. Every time you wash your hair, you are taking away some colour from your strands. Washing your hair frequently can make your hair lose the colour quickly. Avoid washing your hair more than twice a week.

Avoid Swimming

Swimming pools have chemicals like chlorine added to them which can affect your hair colour. Avoid swimming to prevent your hair from getting damaged by these chemicals. If you still have to swim then make sure you wear a swimming cap.

Avoid Stepping Out In The Sun

Exposing your coloured hair to the harmful rays of the sun too can lead to discolouration. Not just that, your hair can start to look dull and dry if you stay in the sun for a long time.

Use Apple Cider Vinegar

Every time we step out, we expose our hair to so many different environmental factors, polluted air, harmful rays of the sun among others. This can lead to scalp build up which further makes your hair look faded and dull. To avoid the discolouration, you can use a rinse prepared using equal parts of water and apple cider vinegar. Rinse your hair with this mix after shampoo. It will help in clearing any buildup.

Use A Hair Mask

Your hair needs a lot of attention after you get them coloured. Get a good hair mask according to your hair type and use it at least once a week. This will not only condition your hair colour but also prevent it from fading and looking dull.

Don't Use Any Heat Styling Tools

Avoid getting your hair curled or straightened if you don't want your hair colour to fade quickly. Heat styling tools make your hair colour fade. Even if you have to, make sure you use a heat protectant cream beforehand.
