See what has beaten Angry Birds to top spot

Temple Run 2 has become the fastest growing game on mobile devices, taking away the distinction from Angry Birds: Space. The second iteration of the popular gaming franchise clocked 50 million downloads within 13 days of launch. This vastly improves the record set by the newest edition of Angry Birds, which reached this milestone in 35 days.

The second instalment of the game builds on the momentum of Temple Run, which itself has been downloaded over 170 million times. Temple Run 2 was first launched on Apple's iOS platform and then made its debut on Google Play and Amazon App Store, racing to the top of the respective app marketplaces.
The game is made by developer Imangi Studios and requires players to guide an adventurer across various landscapes. The game is filled with challenges and players need to complete tasks like collecting coins, power-ups and unlocking various protagonists in order to move to the next level.

Keith Shepherd, the co-founder of Imangi, said, "Temple Run has evolved into something so much bigger than us. The game has performed beyond our wildest dreams, and we are thrilled that gamers and fans have embraced Temple Run 2 in such a short period of time."

Apart from Temple Run and Temple Run 2, the only other title in the franchise is Temple Run: Brave, based on the animated movie Brave, made by Disney Pixar.
