Nasscom floats product council to counter iSpirt

Nasscom has floated a product council with a revenue mandate of $10 billion by 2020. Headed by Silicon Valley entrepreneur Ravi Gururaj, the product council was formed after Nasscom attracted criticism for not giving enough attention to the products space.

In February this year, some 30 Indian software product companies have come together to form a new association -- iSpirt, marking the first break from the omnibus Nasscom and reflecting the growing confidence and maturity of the software product community.
Will the Indian product space witness a clash of interests with the co-existence of these two product bodies for products, industry observers wonder.

Manav Garg, CEO, Eka Software, Girish Mathrubootham, CEO, Freshdesk, Sanjay Parthasarthy, founder, Indix, Hanuman Tripathi, MD, Infrasoft, Narasimhan Mandyam, CEO, PK4 Software and Rohith Bhat MD of Robosoft will be the key members of the Nasscom product council. The founding members of iSpirt include Bharat Goenka, co-founder of Tally Solutions, and Sharad Sharma, former head of Yahoo India R&D.
